Can you describe the experience of getting a one-of-one pair of shoes from IAMBIC tailored uniquely to you?
Receiving a one-of-one pair of IAMBIC shoes was very interesting because up until now I hadn't really given much thought to a bespoke pair of shoes being something that I would own. When I think of bespoke items, I often think about couture and things that are very much out of my reach. So having that opportunity to have a shoe that is one-of-one for me was something that sparked my curiosity in a really special and exciting way. The very first time I tried them on, it was exhilarating. To have something that organically works with my foot, everybody's feet have a certain way that they hit the ground, and the way that my shoes wear out, I could feel that the shoe was supporting me in the places where my foot would normally wear a shoe out faster. That was something that I had to get used to, but also was really nice to feel.
What does owning an edition of one pair of shoes mean to your personal identity and style?
So as one great Beyoncé Knowles-Carter once said, "I'm one of one, I'm the only one," and so are my shoes. At face value, you may look at the IAMBIC shoes and think, how are my shoes any more unique to the customer before me and the customer after me? But the true magic lies in when you slip your foot into that shoe, you realize that this pair of shoes isn't going to fit like anybody else's because it is custom tailored to match your foot shape, to fit the way that your foot fits in a shoe and to feel uniquely comfortable to you.
How do you feel about the look and style of the shoes?
I'm a sucker for white leather sneakers. Anybody that knows me will tell you that if I had it my way, I'd probably have a wardrobe that's full of just white leather sneakers apart from my Converse's, but that's a whole different story. When it comes to my everyday shoe, my go-to, a white leather sneaker is something that everyone should have in their wardrobe. It carries you throughout almost every situation that you're in. You can wear it with a suit, denim, or khakis, what more could you want? As a stylist, I cannot stress the importance of having a classic, clean, white leather sneaker, and that's where IAMBIC meets me.
How has this level of personalized craftsmanship changed how you think about luxury shoes?
This level of craftsmanship has changed my perspective on luxury shoes a lot because in the past I was a firm believer that beauty knows not of comfort to an extent. I used to squeeze my foot into shoes that didn't necessarily fit as well as they could because I loved the look. I would prioritize a look over comfort at times because it takes a lot for me to put an outfit together and when I envision something, I need to see it through. These shoes forced me to readjust that thinking because here is a shoe I really like that meets me at a comfort level. Now I realize I should not have to sacrifice comfort for style. True luxury means thoughtfulness and inclusivity for different foot shapes and arches.
How did the smartphone-based foot scan technology impact what you feel when you wear the shoes?
The foot scan technology for me, as someone with very flat feet, was eye-opening. It allowed the shoe to have a unique contour that worked with my foot really well. When I first slipped them on, it felt unexpectedly natural. It was emotional to put on a pair that finally made sense for my feet and fit as if they were made only for me.
How does IAMBIC’s technology impact your confidence that you’re receiving the best possible shoe?
The technology behind IAMBIC gives me real confidence. As a New Yorker, I am on my feet all day long from morning to evening events. For years I struggled to find shoes that were both comfortable and stylish. Now I go through my day with comfort and confidence because I know I won’t reach that point of wanting to rip my shoes off my feet.

The most interesting thing about them being crafted just for me is how well they fit. And I had never even noticed that my shoes didn't fit right. My other shoes don't hurt me - they just slosh around. With these, the heels actually stay on the whole time and it fits snugly yet still comfortably. And I'd never experienced that before. They just stay comfortable all day.
As a runner, as an athlete, just knowing that I'm doing a good service to my body is incredible. It’s the reason that I love my IAMBIC shoes. It's that precision that makes me feel safe to walk down the street, get on the subway, do my commute, bring my kids to school, and not feel concerned that I'm doing it in a shoe that doesn't fit right or that doesn't feel good.
The thing that I was surprised by the most with the precision fit is that any pressure points thatI had been feeling with the shoes that I previously came in wearing were completely gone. I was wearing a shoe that wasn't too tight. It wasn't too loose. The sole fit just right. Total comfort.That's the best way to put it.
So I suffer from chronic foot pain and I believe that a lot of that has to do with wearing shoes that actually don't fit. Whenever I wear my IAMBICs, I've noticed that I have felt less pain, which is really incredible. And they're just so comfortable. I'm not worried about the back of my heel popping out or my ankles not having enough support. Also, they're just so stylish and every time I wear them out in the street, I always get compliments, which never happens to me.
A shoe that may feel comfortable for a half hour walk is not a shoe that always feels comfort able for a three and a half hour walk. So what I like about IAMBIC is, even though the snug fit is there and it feels comfortable, it also feels substantial enough that I can walk a lot without getting any discomfort. That's just something that's especially important to me and I think the shoe has really delivered that.
The first moment that I tried on my IAMBIC shoes, I noticed a difference. I have small feet. So whenever I try on shoes, I usually expect them to not fit. If they do fit, there's usually some sort of discomfort, whether that's in the toe box or too much space or at the heel. So knowing that this shoe was tailored to my foot was really meaningful. It's rare that you find a shoe like IAMBIC that truly is comfortable, but also hits the markers of style versatility.
I think we're all placed on this earth as unique individuals. None of us are really off the rack in terms of sizing.
